Totally Websites was created by Matt Rigby nearly 20 years ago.
Matt loved computers from a young age and mostly self-taught, he became an IT guru for countless family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.
Following a time working in retail management, he trained to be a secondary school teacher. But alongside this he developed a passion for creating websites for small businesses and not-for-profit organisations.
He loved getting to know his customers personally, and many of them stuck with him for years due to his down-to-earth, patient and approachable nature. He did much of the work for minimal payment in order to support local people and causes that he believed in.
Tragically Matt died suddenly and unexpectedly in April 2025, aged just 51. At the time of his death, he was managing over 50 websites. We did not want to see Matt’s work disappear forever – Totally Websites had been such a big part of his life and identity.
And that is where Jonny stepped in…….

Matt and I shared a lifelong friendship, forged by a connection that began before we were born as our mothers were best friends and lived just streets apart in Tottington. Growing up, we were inseparable, spending countless hours playing on our first computers, those iconic Spectrums of the 1980s, sparking adventures that shaped our lives and put us on a shared path.
That bond endured until Matt’s tragic passing. He was the truest of friends – genuine, kind, and unwavering. It was an honour to call him my friend.
Our shared passion for technology led us both into careers in IT and website design.
Matt’s talent as a website designer was defined by his genuine desire to help others. His work was more than technical – it reflected his commitment to supporting clients and local causes with fairness and care.
Matt’s family wishes for his work and passion to live on, and I am honoured to carry forward his legacy through my IT company, J700 Group. We are dedicated to continuing Matt’s work with the same ethos, always ready to help and support local people and causes. We will also maintain Matt’s fair and accessible pricing structure, ensuring his values remain at the heart of every project.
To Liz, Daniel and Hannah, thank you for trusting us with Matt’s work, we will ensure his name lives on, and his work continues to inspire people, we are also here to support you whenever needed.
